Madelien is a tri-lingual (Dutch, French, English) executive coach with 20 years of international corporate business experience.
A former international Human Resources Director and member of international Executive Teams, Madelien understands the challenges of leadership and cross-cultural collaboration in global and fast-changing environments. Specialized in inter-cultural leadership and systemic team coaching, she is passionate about helping leaders collaborate and build connected teams.
Background
Madelien started her career as an employment lawyer in the Netherlands, her country of origin. She then moved to New York where she qualified as a mediator.
On moving to Luxemburg, her next role was as a Human Resources Director of a multinational financial institution. She was a member of the Regional Executive Team and was responsible for 35 countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa. In this role she managed large remote international teams, designed numerous cross-border leadership transformation programs and had extensive, hands-on experience with HR integration programs following large, multi-country mergers & acquisitions.
Madelien subsequently started her coaching & HR consultancy business, aimed at helping organizations become highly team-literate through leadership development and team coaching. She then went on to co-found SquareDot Partners in 2021.
Coaching approach
Madelien is a leadership coach who takes a systemic approach and invites the voices of all stakeholders into the coaching process. Her understanding of the corporate and financial world, her in-depth experience with team dynamics and her careful attention to all layers in the system, create an impact that is lasting and reaches further than the individual or team with which she works.
In partnership with her clients, she identifies patterns, behaviours, mindsets and cultural dimensions, and explores how her clients can learn and develop in relation to their context. She accompanies senior executives and their teams through complex transition processes considering intercultural, inter-functional and interpersonal dimensions.
She uses a range of tools and approaches including horse-assisted coaching, peer learning through co-development sessions, conflict resolution techniques, 360 individual and team assesments, personal and team profiling tools.
